First Investors Online Security Policy
First Investors is committed to making sure that your online account information is safe and secure. Because the security of your information is of paramount importance to us, we have implemented a number of security measures to protect your online information.
How Do We Protect Your Online Account Information?
- Security systems and monitoring. We have implemented firewalls in order to block unauthorized access to our network. In addition, we have security systems in place to monitor our online services in order to ensure they are as secure as possible.
- Web browser encryption. To access your online account information, your Web browser must support 128-bit encryption, which we use to secure your online account data. Encryption transforms the information exchanged between your web browser and our online service so that it is unreadable by anyone who does not have the key to decipher it. This key changes each time you use our online service, making it difficult for unauthorized interception of the online session.
- User name and password protection. We employ strength guidelines to make it more difficult for an unauthorized person to guess your password. After several unsuccessful login attempts, First Investors will disable your password. You can restore access through First Investors Online or by calling Shareholder Services at (800) 423-4026.
- Time-out feature. Once logged in to First Investors Online, you will be automatically logged out after a period of inactivity. This reduces the likelihood of unauthorized access to your account information. You should always log out of First Investors Online when you are finished with your online session.
- Security questions. If you log in from a computer we don't recognize, you will be prompted to answer a security question so we can verify your identity.
- Change notification. If you make certain changes to your account settings, we notify you of the change via e-mail. If you see that an unauthorized change has been made, you should contact Shareholder Services immediately.
First Investors will never:
- Send you an e-mail asking for any personal and/or account information.
- Ask for your online access information (e.g., password) in an e-mail or request it via the phone or U.S. mail.
You Play A Role In Protecting Your Information
While First Investors works to protect your information, you also play a role in protecting your online account information. There are a number of steps you can take to ensure that your account information will remain secure:
- Do not reveal your password information or other security data used to access your online account information to anyone. You should choose passwords that are not easily guessed. If you think your online password information has been compromised, change it immediately online.
- Do not walk away from your computer if you are in the middle of a session.
- Be cautious about using public computer terminals/devices to access your online account information. While we make every effort to ensure security by encrypting your communications, such computer devices could contain software such as spyware or viruses, which can be used to collect information, including your username and password, without your consent or knowledge.
- Once you have finished your session on the Internet, always log off before visiting other Internet sites.
- Each time you log in, check your last access date and time. Contact Shareholder Services if the last access date and time don't match what you expect.
